Pink, Yellow & Green? Uh oh.

I have a well documented problem when it comes to embracing certain parts of the colour spectrum. I could have gone a full year in blue/white/grey (retrospective is coming).

For the next 2 months, I am going to try to find and use as much pink, yellow and green as possible in my stash.

On the list right now, the baby pink bonnet and bootees for my niece (Dale Book 142),

socks and very bright, cheerful roving.

Any words of advice on spinning the roving? It was sold as one length of green and one length of pink/yellow multi braided together. I'm afraid that when I ply them together I will end up with a mess.

How about alternating colors in your single and getting some nice long runs, and then navajo plying?

My verification word is 'cpneap'. Noun, verb, or adjective, do you think?

I'm with Caroline. Although you could divide the colors in half lengthwise and spin to separate bobbins and just do a regular two ply and let any blending happen. Might be interesting (or I've been reading the latest issue of Spin-off too much!)

I'll be interested to see what you decide to do. I have lots of lovely space dyed roving that are just sitting because I can't decide how to best spin them.

I think I'd unbraid the braids and hold the various colors together in my hand. I might predraft a little so they'd spin up easier, and I'd just combine them all and allow some variety in the yarn. I think the colors go well together. Then I'd do a little test plying--2 ply or navajo, because I'm too lazy for traditional 3 ply!

I think Lamb Korma sounds delicious except I don't even own a slow cooker! We're still eating leftover chicken soup around here, though...:)

I agree that you need to unbraid the roving, spin long singles in a single color, then Navajo ply the singles. If you spin them together, then ply, you will end up with a rather dull yarn. I know, my son's cub scout troup dyed roving with koolaid (red and green) and I tried to spin it after carding it together. The resulting color resembled pond scum --- not an attractive color.

That is gorgeous roving. I don't have any suggestion because I tend to spin randomly and let the roving ply as it may. However, I do tend to Navajo ply, which keeps the colors more uniform--if your careful of keeping the colors consistent when you ply. Happy spinning!

Hi Angela, this is my first time visiting your blog. I found you through a comment at Pearl's blog. I shop at the store where she works often, and I love to go in and pester her.

Beautiful roving! I'm playing along with PS too. I don't find the green a challenge at all (my fave), but yellow is a stretch. I love the UFO button, wish I'd heard of that in time, but maybe there'll be a next year.
