Eating well

It's nearly the end of the Lunar Year, which means lots of eating out this week!

We'll have some spinach pie, chili with accompanying cheese bread, and maybe a lasagna for some lunches and quick and easy dinners when we're home.

Monday: chili and cheese bread. I'm going to try new to me recipes from Cook's Illustrated Soups and Stews issue.
Tuesday: spinach pie.
Wednesday: Out for French to say goodbye to the lunar year.
Thursday: Happy New Year! I think we'll keep it simple with something delicious and full of vegetables.
Friday: Lasagna is sounding good, or maybe pizza!
Saturday: Cook with what we have in the fridge/freezer/pantry. We found a can of black beans and have no idea where they came from.
Sunday: Leftovers :)

Chicken!

Knit for a friend, the results are quite charming.
Project specs : Hettie
Yarn : Naturally Loyal and some DK scraps
Needles : 3.25mm needles

I'd recommend not slipping the edge stitches for the wings and using mattress stitch to sew them together.

Menu Monday

We've been eating out a lot, but a reliable standby recipe has been our version of this fabulous Pea and Spinach Soup from Bravo! Best of Bridge.

4 green onions, chopped
pinch of nutmeg
Fry these in your soup pot until fragrant (don't burn them!)

3 cups frozen pea
1 package frozen spinach
1 container chicken stock
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
pepper to taste
Add to your stock pot and bring this to a boil. Cook until peas are soft and spinach has defrosted.

Puree! That's it. A wonderful way to get your green during the winter.

New Year, Old Blog?

Dusting off the cobwebs over the last couple of months, I've discovered that I really do still enjoy knitting and spinning. My enjoyment of food was never in any doubt.

Let's see what happens in 2011 this year.
