Look over here and check out the awesome cardigan Venus knit for her Fella. Lime and skulls! She's baby-sitting one of my wheels for me and I'm loving the fact that my evil plan is working so well. I think we're going to have to find her a wheel by October so that she is fully assimilated into the spinning vortex.

Drat

Blogger ate my post from yesterday and will only let me post pictures after some judicious persuasion.

Long story short, we're definitely moving at the end of September and we're doing a lot of work on the current place right now.


Last night involved this large pile of fun and I have to say after almost 3 hours, I only managed to get half of 3 panels primed and my right bicep is showing Way more definition than my left one this morning.

In the name of knitting, here's something, pretty and lacey from about 10 years ago. The linen has held up beautifully and it's wonderfully soft, yet crisp.

I'm not sure if I have an amazing memory, or if the universe just works in strange ways. I was worried that I didn't have anything appropriate to show for Project Spectrum this month, but apparently, things are taking care of themselves. This is good as it is now fairly official that The Flame and I are moving in October.

Socks seem like as good a distraction as any other right now. A nice, satisfying knit. Now that I am down to the heel, that lavender/mauve spiral isn't bothering me as much anymore.

Anyone got an extra 4 hours of day that they can spare, and maybe a handy-person?

Easily distracted

There seems to be no end to the new and shiny. Everywhere I turn I see new projects beckoning. As I continue with row 10 of 24 of the (Evil) ruffle I gave in and cast-on for the FibreTrends Leaf Lace socks using some lovely purple merino sock yarn. I'm not sure it will hold up well over time, but it's got a lovely hand and the rows are only 56 sts long!

Once I finish Flirty Ruffles, I'm going to start the Mystery Stole 2, possibly in some lace-weight linen that I have.

New spindles

Slowly, but surely, I am becoming a spindler (or at least a dedicated spindle collector).


From top to bottom, Forrester Linum Fancy (Maple and Walnut), Tabachek Compact Deluxe (Cocobolo and Maple) and Tabachek Compact (Santos Rosewood and Hickory). The Compact is part of my attempt to consistently spin a thicker yarn. The Compact Deluxe will be one of my workhorses and I couldn't resist the Forrester.


This little guy will be my companion for my cotton adventures. Spinning cotton is still a slow and frustrating process for me, but I can see a certain zen appeal to it.

I got my Tabachek's from Mr. Tabachek himself and the Forrester's from Marg at Celeigh Wool. I'd been eyeing both the Forresters and the Tabacheks online so it was nice to be able to try them out first.

Those who know me well are probably wondering about my fibre restraint. There is nothing like the thought of renovations and an impending move to curtail the large-volume purchase of a fleece or two or nine. Instead the spindles were my major purchase aside from the new Knitter's (cover shawl anybody?), some black BFL top (absolutely amazing price) that is ultimately destined as a sweater for The Flame and my missing pound of mill-ends from Twisted Sisters & Co. Fibre Mill.

Finally home

Long time no post, but I'm home from Olds, Alberta and Fibre Week with absolutely no knitting progress to show. I brought both Flirty Ruffles (on row 7 of the ruffle - argh) and my Trekking Socks but a quick sock photo was about all that happened.


Lots of spinning and some spinning related shopping did occur. Photos of the new spindles coming soon, as well as our very interesting tour of Custom Woolen Mills.
